Prime Video just dropped the first trailer for Overcompensating — and Benito Skinner is bringing chaotic comedy energy

Prime Video has just released the trailer for Overcompensating, a brand-new comedy series created by and starring Benito Skinner. The show is set to premiere on May 15, 2025, with all eight episodes dropping on the same day. It will stream in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

The main cast includes Benito Skinner, Wally Baram, Mary Beth Barone, Adam DiMarco, and Rish Shah.

What is Overcompensating About?

Overcompensating is a college-based comedy that follows Benny, a former high school football star and homecoming king. He’s closeted and trying to figure out who he really is. In college, he becomes close friends with Carmen, a quirky outsider desperate to fit in. Together, they deal with bad hook-ups, flavored vodka, fake IDs, and awkward moments. Benny’s older sister and her popular boyfriend help guide them along the way.

The show mixes fun, chaos, and real emotions. It tells a relatable story about how we all try too hard sometimes to be liked and accepted.

Other recurring names include Holmes, Corteon Moore, Owen Thiele, Nell Verlaque, and Tomaso Sanelli.

Overcompensating is produced by A24, Strong Baby, and Amazon MGM Studios. Alongside Skinner, the show is executive produced by Scott King, who also serves as showrunner. Jonah Hill, Matt Dines, and Ali Goodwin are on board as executive producers for Strong Baby. Pop star Charli XCX is also an executive producer and will lead the music side of the project.

With its funny, heartfelt storyline and standout cast, Overcompensating is shaping up to be a must-watch comedy on Prime Video this May.
